Conscious feminism.
Hi everyone! I know I haven't been active for a while... but I've been dealing with life these days.
However, I want to make my great comeback with a topic that's been on my mind for a while... and that is: feminism.
The basis of feminism is described beautifully in the following sentence: "All people, regardless of gender, should be afforded the same rights and respect."
Although that is what feminism stands for, there are some people who use this word as something negative, controversial, or a reason to fight one another.
And I say people, and not men, because there's also women who fall into this behavior.
Now, I've never been a fan of anything that ends in "-ism", but I do want to offer some food for thought today.
If you look back in history (or at least what remains of it thanks to the patriarchy), there was a time when women had the same privileges than men. This time was known as the Golden Ages, when there was a boom in culture, and society in general. It was defined by a matriarchy, but contrary to what many people think, this didn't mean that men had less power, it meant that they both had and respected their specific roles.
I suffer a little when I see women fighting men, or viceversa. I've always seen men as allies, partners, and not enemies.
This doesn't mean I don't think men who do wrong shouldn't be held accountable, this means I think all people, regardless of gender should.
I hope that one day, we all leave our resentment behind and start building a balanced, healthy world. One where we all honor our talents, our skills and what we're good at, no matter our genders, races or any other labels that try to define us.
