ZEN AF.
Do you know the meaning of the word "ZEN"?
Today's #WisdomWednesday post is about a word we hear/see around quite a lot, but we probably had no idea what it really meant or where it came from. So, let's learn it in order for us to become more educated enlightened beings, cause no one likes posers who repeat whatever they see/hear all the time.
The term Zen is derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the Middle Chinese word 禪 (Chán), which traces its roots to the Indian practice of dhyāna, which means "meditation".
Zen is a school of Mahayana Buddhism that originated in China during the Tang dynasty, loong loong ago. The essence of Zen is attempting to understand the meaning of life directly, without being misled by logical thought or language.
Its techniques are compatible with other religions, and when practiced properly, result in total spontaneity and ultimate freedom.
Zen is something a person does. It's not a concept that can be described in words, because it has to be experienced in order to really 'understand' it. It sends us looking inside us for enlightenment. The key to Zen is simply self-knowledge.
